Session information

My studio is in downtown San Francisco and I have a variety of outdoor locations around the Bay Area that I use depending on the type of shoot we are working on. I have photographed models, actors, celebrities, couples and regular people just wanting some new shots for their on-line profiles. Shoots can range anywhere from one hour, to several hours depending on the type of shots you need. My studio time is limited to later in the evenings and weekends but location shoot hours are more flexible. Lighting is a huge factor in how well your shots turn out so if we shoot in your home it's important that it has ample natural light. We do have the option to bring studio lighting to locations (for an additional fee). Outdoor locations are best in the early mornings or late afternoons when the sun is about to set. Shoots generally take two hours which includes a few wardrobe changes and a CD or DVD of your un-edited photos in full sized jpg format.

"Every photo session is as unique as the person I'm photographing. I like to spend some time talking with each person so I can get a feel for who they are and what kind of shots they are interested in. It's important to me that you feel relaxed, comfortable and engaged in your shoot so we can capture the best sides of you. Your session should be fun and creative!" - Joe

Helpful tips for a successful Shoot

Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water the day before your shoot. It'll help your skin clear up and get rid of any bags under your eyes.

Don't over plan your day. Give yourself a few hours before your shoot to regroup and de-stress. It's important that you are able to relax and have fun.

If you are planning on nude shots, give yourself a week at the gym so you can look your best. Tanning beds are fine but stop tanning a few days before the shoot so your tan lines don't show up too stark. It just looks funny.

Bring lots of simple wardrobe options. Stripes and patterns don't photograph well so try and keep your wardrobe simple. Colors are great, greens, blues, reds even gray. If you have nothing in your closet that you like, think ahead and borrow some clothes from your friends.

Relax and be yourself (or the side of yourself that you'd like to capture). Don't try and be a super model, the best shots are the ones where you are relaxed and comfortable in your skin.

Don't be afraid to communicate if something isn't working for you. We can take a break, regroup and try something different. But also be willing to trust my eye. I may see some subtle lighting or look in your eye that is amazing!
